Raisin Ginger Cake wins 2009 2 Star Gold Award at Great Taste Awards.
Ludlow’s Cariad Cakes have struck gold. Less than a month after being Highly Commended in this year’s California Raisins’ Innovations Award, their Raisin Ginger Cake has won a prestigious Gold at the 2009 Great Taste Awards.
The Great Taste Awards, which is organised by the Guild of Fine Food, is now in its 16th year and going from strength to strength. The judging standards are the most rigorous in the
UK. Every entry is blind tasted by teams of experts. By the time it earns gold, it will have been assessed by at least three different teams.
Dave & Kay Fletcher, the husband and wife team behind Cariad Cakes, said "We are delighted to receive this award from the Guild of Fine Food. The Raisin Ginger cake finished top of its class and was the only one to be awarded two star gold. It’s all a bit of a dream but has been a fantastic boost”.
